Bills coaches looking for separation vs. Vikings

  • Text size: + -

The new look Bills hit the field in front of the home fans for the first time Friday night – preseason game #2 against Minnesota at the Ralph.

The big news heading into this one is that Kevin Kolb will start at quarterback over rookie EJ Manuel, who was solid in his debut versus the Colts.

Kolb missed the first preseason game with a knee injury, and Doug Marrone has said all along this is an open competition, so Kolb gets his shot to impress.

There's more to watch for than just the quarterbacks, with position battles across the board.

"You’re looking for separation. There’s a lot of other competition going on outside of just the quarterback. For spots on a roster, depth chart, special teams, things like that, so you’ll look for people to step up in those areas. You’re looking to see the progress in them. The coaching points that you’ve made and corrected, you’re making sure they don’t make those mistakes again," said Marrone.
