For hardcore football fans, it's always one of the most anticipated nights of the year - that's the opening of training camp. The Bills had their first practice Sunday night. One injury note - Mario Williams sat out with a sore foot.
EJ Manuel got to show off his big arm in the early going, connecting on the deep ball to sophomore receiver T.J. Graham. Kevin Kolb went over the middle to Stevie Johnson for a diving reception.
But the defense made its share of plays as well. Da'Norris Searcy and fellow safety Aaron Williams each came up with interceptions.
"For me to come back and to say 'Hey, they’re gonna come in here and go 110-percent,' it wouldn’t be right for me to expect that out of them," head coach Doug Marrone said. "We’ve had two days; we’ve been sitting around all day, getting out here. Finally to get out here, now we’ll get in to a good program with a lot of structure. We’ll get used to it, start going out and we’ll get better each day."
"We’ve just been challenging the DBs and it’s fun," Johnson said. "You got to make it fun and compete with each other. We’re out there talking trash and getting stuff going because it is pretty much us against the world and that’s how we feel right now. So we go out there and compete with each other and then take on the world when the season starts."
