Johnson weighs in on Patriots ending

  • Text size: + -

Bills receiver Stevie Johnson is frustrated with constantly losing to the Patriots, especially with the way losses seem to happen.

"It's been like three times that this happened," Johnson said. "We get in the situation in New England. We need to win this game. (They go up 17 points). We come back, and we end up losing. It's frustrating. It's like 'come on man.'"

What's most frustrating for Johnson is the way that Sunday's game ended. Ryan Fitzpatrick's pass, intended for T.J. Graham, was intercepted. Following the game, Graham acknowledged that he ran the wrong route, calling it a "rookie mistake." Johnson was quick to his defense when meeting the media, saying that it should not have come to that.

We know T.J. can make that play," Johnson said on Tuesday. "He didn't run that play in practice at all. It's not his fault at all. I've ran that play. Scott (Chandler) has run that play. Donald (Jones has run that play).

"In that situation, I guess things were hurried up. We had people in positions where maybe they shouldn't have been. Who knows what would have happened if it was Donald, me, or Scott there. So there's no blame on T.J. at all, because he's never ran that route in practice or in a game. "

When asked to clarify, Johnson stood firm. He feels a veteran should have been in that position.

"(The three of us) are more experienced with that route. In that situation, we should have had the more experience there."
