There's a benefit screening this week for a Buffalo native's new movie. Steven Bernstein co-wrote, produced and directed Decoding Annie Parker.

The film is set for wide release early next year, but Bernstein is touring the country doing screenings to benefit charities. Here in his hometown it's for Roswell Park.

Decoding Annie Parker stars Helen Hunt, Bradley Whitford, Maggie Grace and Rashida Jones. Bernstein stopped by YNN's Your Morning News to talk about the film.

"The film is sort of the story of the discovery of a gene that’s related to a certain type of breast cancer," said Bernstein. "It’s discovery is important in our understanding of genetics and how it works when we have all kinds of cancer."

There's a screening of Decoding Annie Parker to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute Thursday evening at the Dipson Theatre on Main Street in Buffalo. It's at 7 p.m. for a $50 donation. There's a V-I-P reception from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. for $100. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
