BUFFALO, N.Y. — Environmental enthusiasts and local students gathered at Franklin St in Buffalo to announce the winners of the 2013 Live Positively Rain Barrel Painting Contest.

Sponsored by Coca-Cola, 25 local high-schools painted barrels designed to save rainwater and prevent pollution.

Lewiston-Porter High School took first place and won $500, followed by City Honors in second and Lancaster High School in third.

Coca-Cola Director of Operations Pat Greco explained the importance of the students' projects.

"Currently, it's a challenging time in our environment," said Greco, "and we all need to responsibly collaborate and work together so we can protect our planet, our communities and our lives."
