Governor Andrew Cuomo is getting into the spirit of Thanksgiving. He spent the day before the holiday giving out food to victims of Sandy and he had some high profile company. Zack Fink has more.

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- Governor Cuomo was joined by actor Steve Buschemi to announce the delivery of Thanksgiving meals for volunteers and first responders who have been helping out in Breezy Point.

"This is a community of first responders and the first responders were hit hard themselves," Buschemi said.

"It's very overwhelming. Even to see all the volunteers here today. These are the people who are here every day. And it's heartwarming. It really is," one person said.

The meals were a big hit.

"Oh, it's wonderful. What could you not like about this dinner?" said another person.

A total of 4,000 Thanksgiving meals are being delivered. Not just in Brezzy Point, but in other hard hit areas of the city, including parts of Brooklyn and Staten Island.

Governor Cuomo has asked the federal government for $30 billion in storm aide. A figure too rich for the state to cover on its own.

Cuomo said, "They are estimating now that this is the second worst storm to hit the United States. Second only to Katrina in modern history. This was a devastating event. We are going to be okay, but we are not going to be back tomorrow."

Some have urged the Governor to team up with the Governors of New Jersey and Connecticut before making the pitch to Washington.

"We've already met in Washington, D.C. with members from New Jersey, new York and Connecticut. We are going to work in a coastal coalition. We should go all the way down to Florida, the whole eastern seaboard," Representative Greg Meeks said.

President Obama has urged states devastated by the storm to take a regional approach when it comes to seeking disaster relief.
