BUFFALO, N.Y. — Roswell Park Cancer Institute invited anyone whose lives have been touched by lung cancer out for their annual Breath of Life Celebration.
The free event served as an opportunity to learn about new treatments and research for lung cancer patients, as well as hear stories from survivors.
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, which is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S.
Doctors at Roswell Park say the treatment has advanced a great deal just in the last ten years, and lung cancer patients now do much better than ever before.
"It's very important to show people that there are folks who have advanced lung cancer who are doing well, so there is reason to be hopeful and not give up," said Alex Adjei, Department of Medicine Chairman, senior VP of Clinical Research at Roswell Park.
This was the fifth year Roswell Park held the Breath of Life Celebration.
