BUFFALO, N.Y. — A doctor who helped children with cancer over the last 40 years is retiring, and Wednesday was a chance for many families to say thanks.

Doctor Martin Brecher was celebrated at Roswell Park by past and current patients, as well as family and friends.

Brecher says he's had a very rewarding career at both Roswell and Women and Children's Hospital.

"Seeing patients who I treated 10, 20, 30 years ago and are now living normal lives as healthy adults and with kids of their own, what could be more rewarding?" he asked.

Brecher started at Roswell Park back in 1975.
