BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A Buffalo man faces charges after police say he hit multiple police cars when trying to drive away from a scene Sunday.
A police spokesperson said officers were responding to a shots fired call around 4 a.m. in the area of East Ferry and Fillmore Avenue when they saw a car fleeing the area.
As they tried to stop it, they say the driver, 34-year-old Timothy Jones, tried to get away. They say he hit police cars a number of times and nearly hit an officer. Jones eventually hit a curb, blew a tire and was arrested near Carlton and Peach Streets.
He's charged with attempted assault of an officer, fleeing from an officer, reckless driving and criminal possession of stolen property. Police say Jones is on parole for drug possession charges.
Buffalo police are also investigating a shooting that happened in the area of East Ferry and Fillmore about the same time. Detectives say a 30-year-old man was transported to ECMC with multiple gun shot wounds. He's listed in stable condition.
Police are investigating if the two incidents are related.
