LACKAWANNA, N.Y. — Family members of Tequila Suter are in shock after her apartment on Wilkesbarre Street in Lackawanna became a crime scene Sunday afternoon.
While they aren't releasing details of the case, Lackawanna Police said Suter, 26, was stabbed to death Saturday night and officers are interviewing witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
"If she had problems, she would come to us, so in this case, if she did have problems, she didn't mention anything. She didn't show it, because that's how strong she is," said Dominique Suter, Tequila's uncle.
"The last time I spoke to my daughter, was February 5, on my birthday. She sent me some roses and some chocolate-covered strawberries and told me happy birthday and she loved me," said Sharon Suter, Tequila's mother.
That's one example of the caring, kind-hearted spirit her family said Suter was known for. Two years ago, she adopted a 16-year-old girl.
Dominique Suter said, "She loved everybody. If you needed something, she's there for you."
"She was just too good of a person to be wiped out like nothing," said Florence Riddick, Tequila's aunt.
Her loved ones said Suter was on the right path - studying child psychology and criminal justice through the University of Phoenix.
Now, family members want to know who stopped her from reaching her goals and took her away from them.
Her mother said, "I wish that whoever done this to her, come forward, turn yourself in, so I can have some closure on this."
"If you know something or your know who done this, just come forward, because if it happened to your family, you would want somebody to come up and speak for you too," said Riddick.
