BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Common Council has adopted a resolution to name a park in honor of a police officer who was shot in the line of duty.
The community around the city-owned pocket park at 33 Whitney Place wants the park to be named Patty Parete Park.
Parete and her partner Carl Andolina were shot in the area in 2006. Officer Parete died from her injuries in that shooting earlier this month.
Community members have also pledged to raise funds to construct a monument for Officer Parete at the park.
