BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two Buffalo businesses looking to hold live music received different results from the city's Zoning Board of Appeals.
The Hertel Lounge, which opened in December on Hertel Avenue, got the okay to have live music, but only on Friday nights.
The Acropolis in the Elmwood Village, however, was denied a variance to play live music.
The chairman of the zoning board said the community came out in large numbers to speak against the Acropolis.
"Overwhelmingly, the neighbors that were totaly against this. The councilmember that is the legislator for that community, he was totaly against this. It was just a situation that was lose-lose," said Dr. James Lewis, Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman.
Both establishments have licenses to play recorded music.
