Niagara County officials ready to release Robert Moses Parkway plans

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- Plans for the northern portion of the Robert Moses Parkway are ready for public review.
The highway connects Main Street in Niagara Falls to the village of Lewiston. Some officials say the parkway disconnects the city from the water and that they want the parkway removed. Officials to the north say it's a vital connection.
Two lanes have been closed for years for use as a bike and walking path. Project plans began more than a decade ago.
"It's been too long that this project, this idea that they first studied has been going on. It's time now to get it done," said Assemblyman John Ceretto, D-Lewiston.
Ceretto hopes to see the parkway reconfigured to open up waterfront development.
An open house Wednesday in Niagara Falls will begin the public comment period. It takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Conference Center Niagara Falls on Old Falls Street.
Copies of the plan will then be available for review at municipal buildings in Niagara Falls, Lewiston and Porter.
