KENMORE, N.Y. — Four schools in the Kenmore-Tonawanda Union Free School District were under a lockout Monday after a suspicious person was reported nearby.
According to the district superintendent, someone saw a man leaving the Mobil Mart at Highland and Colvin saying, "it's time to lock and load," with a possible handgun in their hand.
As police searched for the man, Kenmore West High School, the Hoover Complex and Lindbergh Elementary were locked out as a precaution, meaning no outsiders would be allowed inside.
That man was never found, but police believe there was never any threat to the schools.
A letter was sent home to parents notifying them of what happened.
