CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — Chautauqua County lawmakers received the completed contract for the potential sale of the Chautauqua County Home late Friday, and now the clock is ticking for legislators to review the contract and make a decision.

Two resolutions were approved by the Human Services Committee Wednesday evening. The first would authorize the sale of the nursing home to Altitude Health Services for $16.5 million.

If that fails, a second resolution would authorize the county to sell the home to a different bidder.

"That's up to 25 legislators. They have to vote with their conscience, I believe. And like I stated before, there's some very intelligent people in the legislature that will make, hopefully make, the right decision," said Mark Tarbrake, (R) Chautauqua County Legislator.

The resolutions will go through the Audit and Control committee Thursday before heading to the full legislature next Wednesday.
