BUFFALO -- The future of the Buffalo Public School District's football program will be the topic of a special meeting at City Hall Wednesday afternoon. The Board of Education is expected to vote on whether to consolidate teams

The district is considering a plan to consolidate eight high school football teams into 4, but that's not making some very happy.

District leaders say the plan would save money and improve competitiveness among schools, but parents and supporters of the football program say fewer teams means fewer opportunities for students.

And at last week's Board of Education meeting, some parents spoke out about the plan.

Parent John Abrams said, "I cannot tell you how many students I see on the streets that are not participating in sports because they got kicked off the team or maybe not had the opportunity that's going to end up in jail or arrested."

The meeting will take place at Buffalo City Hall room 801 at 4 p.m. Stay with YNN for information and if a decision is made.
