Local organization gives warmth to veterans

NIAGARA FALLS, NY--One organization in Niagara Falls is doing their part to keep local veterans warm this winter.

Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission organized Operation Warmth for the past few months, and on Sunday evening they distributed the two hundred coats that they collected. Each jacket came with a hat, gloves, a bible and an American flag.

Organizers say local businesses came together to help out the cause, and that it is important to help veterans in need.

"Veterans didn't ask any questions when they were told to sacrifice their lives for us to preserve our freedom, and the least we can do is to give them a coat to stay warm", said John Cooper Jr. of Operation Warmth.

Operation Warmth plans to give any extra winter gear to veterans' groups in Buffalo in the coming days.
