BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fans of both the U.S. and Sweden hockey teams were at Cole's on Elmwood Avenue on Saturday morning for the gold medal game at the World Junior Hockey Championship.
Cole's employees say about 200 people came out for the early opening to watch the game.
The U.S. team won 3-1 to bring home the gold medal, much to the delight of the crowd.
Hockey fans said it was a fun, crowded atmosphere in which to watch the game.
"Way more (exciting) than I expected and better than being in the basement of my house," said U.S. fan Tom O'Connor. "It was a tense game. That last goal was fun."
"I'm also an American, not just a Swede," said Sweden fan Anna Olson. "So it was a win-win situation for me no matter who won." Olson was watching the game with her friend Stacy Tuberdyke.
"We're pretty hockey starved right now, so I thought it would be a good time, despite the booing that we got," Tuberdyke said.
