CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. -- A true hero's welcome awaited a Buffalo soldier who returned home Saturday afternoon.

Friends and family waited with flowers and balloons in hand at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport as Private First Class Veronica Chew walked through the doors at airport arrivals.

This is the first time Chew has been home since she was deployed in Afghanistan nine months ago.

Chew was overwhelmed to see so many family members waiting for her.

"It means a lot to have a lot of people support us,” said Pfc. Veronica Chew. “All the people you talk to, writing us and stuff, to see them, it just means a lot."

Chew returns back to her base in Colorado January 15th. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
