ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. --- The 9th annual SPCA Serving Erie County Radiothon has taken over radio stations across western New York.
The SPCA spokesperson says this initiative is the organization's largest annual fundraising event and it operates solely on donations.
Last year the radiothon raised more than $200 thousand.
Not only does the agency provide animal adoptions, but it also performs educational programs, wildlife rehabilitation and 24-hour, 7-day a week animal rescues.
"This event forces us to look at the good stories, and it forces us to look at the happy endings," said Gina Browning, public relations director for the SPCA. "We get on the air and we say we remember the difference that we made in the lives of these people and the lives of these pets."
All adoption fees are half-price during the Radiothon. To make a donation call 873-SPCA.
