Parade honors local veterans

BUFFALO -- Veterans were honored in the city of Buffalo, as a parade celebrating them returned to Delaware Avenue.

Dozens of local high school ROTC squads and veterans groups, including one from California, raised their heads high, and marched to Niagara Square.

The parade's chairman says it was to honor all past and future veterans, and to welcome those returning home. Veterans say it's an emotional day for them.

"I can't express what emotions come to me. It's beautiful, just beautiful. I just want to come up to them and say, 'thank you, thank you for your service'," said John Kasmer.

Veterans Day is Sunday, with the federal holiday being observed Monday.
