MEDINA, N.Y. – One teenager is dead and two others are injured after their car slammed into a tree in Orleans County just after 1 a.m. Sunday.

Orleans County Sheriff investigators say 18-year-old Joseph Pearl lost control and hit a tree on Culvert Road near Medina.

Investigators say 17-year-old Terry James Moyer Jr. was ejected from the backseat. He was pronounced dead at Medina Memorial Hospital.

Another passenger in the car, Randall Van Houten remains at Medina Hospital with unknown injuries.

Pearl was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Investigators say speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash. Charges may be pending.
