LEWISTON, N.Y. — A Niagara Falls man was killed in a two-car crash in Niagara County on Tuesday night.
The accident happened on Saunders Settlement Road in Lewiston around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. According to State Police, 82-year-old Elijah Holmes was killed.
Police said Holmes was a passenger in a car that was hit head-on by a passing car driven by 20-year-old Samantha Thompson of Lockport. Thompson is listed in serious condition at Mount Saint Mary's Hospital.
The driver of the other car, 32-year-old Tyronda Ivey, was taken to the hospital.
A six-month-old child was also taken to the hospital to be treated for head and chest injuries. Police say it appears that the infant survived the crash because the infant was properly strapped into a car seat.
State Police are reminding parents to make sure their kids are properly strapped into car seats, and to have those seats checked by law enforcement officers.
Police said charged in the accident are pending.
