NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The ongoing protests in the Middle East were the topic of a discussion at Niagara University on Wednesday.
Two faculty members and a native Egyptian imam Who moved to the United States in the early 1990’s hosted the hour-long talk. Students had a chance to ask questions and offer their own comments on the protests.
The Islamic leader thinks it's only a matter of time before democracy spreads in the Middle East and North Africa.
"Actually, the power of the people is more than any other power, is stronger than any other power. For that is the general will, people want to live a free life, to express themselves, to have democracy. And that is their right," said Dr. Muhammad Agwa, the chairman of the Imams Council of Greater Western New York.
The discussion was free to the public.
