EDEN, N.Y. -- On a foggy morning in the Town of Eden, it's not uncommon to see a tractor driving down the road. But it is bizarre to see a tractor sharing the high school parking lot with a school bus, let alone 50 tractors.
Eden 8th grader, Tyler Witkowski took one of his father’s tractors, cleaned it up and took it to school. Friday was Tractor Day at Eden High School. The day started four years ago when a teacher dared a student to drive their tractor to school one day. That student took the dare.
Witkowski says, "We've been doing it ever since and it's a great time to come out with your friends."
Eden High School senior Tom Gallman says, "We started 4 years ago with about 15 to 20, and now that's grown to what we have this year."
The idea might leave city residents scratching their heads, as it should. And you may ask why? Well, there's no reason. "It's just for fun. It's an Agricultural town so we're going off of that and having a little fun showing off our tractors for the agricultural business,” Gallman says.
In all about 50 students turned out with their tractors for no real reason other than to have fun.
